Staying Anabolic

Staying anabolic means staying in a “muscle building” state, or maintaining the muscle which you have built. If you’re not maintaining a muscle building state, you’re breaking down muscle, which means you’re in a catabolic state.

Both of these factors rely on what your daily food intake is and how much protein, carbohydrates and fats you are taking in. It also depends on when you are eating, and if you are skipping meals or overeating on the wrong foods. Another category which can affect these hormones is your immune system and pain and inflammation pathways. If your immune system in deregulated and you suffer from pain, chances are you will find it very hard to put on muscle and keep it there.

You will be catabolic if you:

• Find it takes longer to recover after a workout

• Find it difficult o get out of bed in the morning

• You aren’t eating enough protein

• If you are skipping meals

• If you have sugar cravings

• If you experience light headedness and shakes

• If you are constantly stressed

• If you have any immune complexes such as asthma, eczema, IBS, sinus, digestive disorders such as bloating, reflux and abdominal pain. These conditions can alter the body’s ability to breakdown and digest protein

Staying anabolic has a lot to do with the balance of the stress hormones in your body, mainly the hormone cortisol. If there are high levels of cortisol being produced by your body, chances are you are breaking down muscle tissue to use as an energy source while storing body fat.

How we can help you stay in an anabolic state.
